📸 SS-Obersturmführer Rudolf Garscha.

Garscha served in the heavy artillery regiment 2 of the SS Das Reich division. He was the commander of a mobile artillery that was often very close to the front lines, and many times Garscha faced down charging enemy attacks by lowering the barrel of his mobile artillery (the Hummel self-propelled gun) and firing right into the charging enemy.

Due to the constant contact and success of Garscha's battery, he was awarded the German Cross in gold.

In the photo, Garscha is wearing a camouflaged tunic displaying his German Gold Cross, the Close Combat Clasp in Bronze, the General Assault Badge, the Wound Badge in Silver, and the Iron Cross.
