Back about 3 or so years ago, there was a post floating around on telegram that was titled “the truth and the lie” and I found this story so fascinating, accompanied by a haunting image, that I couldn’t stop thinking about it. If I can find the post, I’ll share it because it’s one of my favorites. Anyways, It inspired me to write this song that same day.
It’s called “The Naked Truth.”

The Truth and the Lie

The Lie said to the Truth, "Let's take a bath together, the well water is very nice. The Truth, still suspicious, tested the water and found out it really was nice. So they got naked and bathed. But suddenly, the Lie leapt out of the water and fled, wearing the clothes of the Truth.

The Truth, furious, climbed out of the well to get her clothes back. But the World, upon seeing the naked Truth, looked away, with anger and contempt. Poor Truth returned to the well and disappeared forever, hiding her shame. Since then, the Lie runs around the world, dressed as the Truth, and society is very happy...

Because the world has no desire to know the naked Truth.

This is a really rough demo I recorded with Jeff the day I wrote this song. It’s on my album “Woven.” The quality is really rough because it was recorded live with a tascam recorder.

This is the last demo I’ll be posting.
Being a full time mom means that I won’t have time to create music for a good long while, and when I’m ready for that, it will be the start of a new project with a new name and I’m not sure what it will sound like or what that name will be.

“Hiraeth” has been an incredible outlet for me over the years and I’m so grateful for the support I’ve gotten and the connections I’ve made with people in the process. But the truth is that there is a sense of homelessness that comes with the meaning of the word “Hiraeth” that I no longer wish to express or embody.

After everything that’s happened, what’s most important to me now is to lay down a solid foundation for my daughter so that she has everything she needs in order to grow into the amazing person I know she already is.

With that said, I will leave up my channels, but this will be the last post I make. Thank you all for listening to my music and showing me support. It means more than I can say.

Following this demo, I’ll drop one last unreleased song from the album “Woven” which I feel will be appropriate for this end of an era.

This rough demo was recorded live with a tascam the first time I met Jeff in person. We were both fans of Elliott Smith so we decided to cover “The Biggest Lie” since Jeff already knew how to play it on guitar. After he passed, I have listened to this countless times. It brings smiles and tears to me every time.
