I like collecting memories. Even my notebooks, which I used in elementary school they are still kept in my home.
just wanted to know WHY PEOPLE COLLECT things

It turned out it goes back to our old days as humans. Historically, people loved collecting stuff like food or weapons not because it was a matter of life or death (it certainly was) but because they got a dopamine hit every time they found smth, so kept doing it.


The same doesn't apply to us anymore although we inherited collecting habits from our ancestors. Who enjoys finding a new sort of food?

What makes people collect things today, then?

This all comes down to a certain region in our brain, shaped over time, responsible for novelty. It is also reported that there are some people born with a predisposition to collecting things. They can't wait to gather more and more things.
One more article says we are hardwired to like to collect.
There is always room for improvement
