Folks around the corner at the Convention Center are dancing. It's still a party down on the ground. Philly isn't sensationalizing violence. Only the President and his followers are.

Violent crime is on the rise despite Philadelphia Police increasing in size, funding, and arms throughout the decade. There are 11 policing agencies in Center City Philadelphia. Why does crime continue to increase with such a militarized force? Because the strength and size of a police department has nothing to do with the reasons of social deviance and social factors that cause deviancy. People having no or low incomes, people having health conditions requiring prescriptions and copays, people having behavioral health troubles, people having no home, people having drug and gambling addictions, people having struggle is exactly why crime and deviancy happens in a society. No matter how many prison cells you build, no matter how many guns you have, no matter how many men and women in a uniform, and no matter how many surveillance systems the intelligence agencies build, there will be no stopping deviancy and crime as long as these systems in place to disenfranchise people to the point where they have no choice if they want to put food on their table and pay their rent. Philadelphia Police having a tank doesn't stop kids from being kids, and doesn't stop people from struggling. Food stamps, welfare, healthcare, and mutual aid for every persons basic needs and rights is what creates less of a cause for social deviancy and crime to occur. So instead of paying for tanks we should be housing people. Instead of paying for explosives we should be buying textbooks and laptops for kids. Instead of chasing drugs around the city, we should be providing dispensaries for cleaner drugs and places for people to do them safely while they wait for their provided treatment. Instead of paying for bullets, we should be paying for bridges, and trains, and infrastructure. Instead of building prisons, we should be building hospitals and schools. The government is so focused on control and authority that it has forgotten humanity.
You know what has happened during this pandemic? People lost their jobs, and lost access to their in person behavioral health services. The results were increased domestic violence, increased shootings, increased shoplifting, and increased drug use. When people cant afford to put food on their table and access their healthcare and medicine due to copays, and limited access, crime and deviancy increases. There is a socioeconomic factor in social stratification during times of crisis that creates increased deviancy and crime. No matter how militarized Philadelphia Police are, there is nothing they can do to prevent that. So demilitarizing and putting funds into housing, healthcare, and other lifeline resources for those in the most need is absolutely a necessary call for leaders to make that they have yet to do.

Philly Police have just committed their 4th extra judicial killing in a little over a month. 10/8, 10/23, 10/27, and 11/12.
No Danielle Outlaw, you will not get $18 million for equipment. We are tired of you ordering weapons to then use on us. We are tired of you taking peoples lives. Danielle we are coming for your guns, we are coming for your tasers, we are coming for your explosives, and we are coming for your tank. There is no justice in a system of extra judicial killers. There is no peace in Philly. Resign now!

Philly's history tells us that when we follow the orders of the Fraternal Order of Police, more people die. In 1969, the Philadelphia Police Review Board was abolished by Mayor Frank Rizzo. From 1970 to 1978 75 people were shot while unarmed, while retreating, and while not being charged for a violent crime in Philadelphia. This compares to the 1950s when only 32 people were shot and killed by police in Philadelphia. Hundreds of people became victims of militarized violence. In the 80s, a whole block was bombed and several children were killed. Philadelphia was the first Police Department ever to be sued for use of force by the US government. It took until the 90s until police reviewed peoples complaints again. Philly has one of the most violent Police Departments in history when we review the books. And Philly has shown time and time again that reforms don't work. Abolish the militarized occupation of Philadelphia neighborhoods!
