Not that India needed a “DeepSeek moment” to wake up—like it has for the US, for instance—but the world’s largest democracy has finally started to show intent and a plan as to how it will make breakthrough AI locally thereby reducing reliance on biggies like ChatGPT, Gemini, and new—but potentially groundbreaking—entrants like the DeepSeek. India has announced a major leap in the world of AI by creating its own foundational AI large language model (short for LLM) which is essentially the currency to run a chatbot like ChatGPT. To achieve this, the government is setting up a massive AI infrastructure, including a facility with 18,000 graphics processing units or GPUs, hardware that is at the heart of creating AI, and then, making it talk to you to do a bunch of stuff from writing poems to generating code.

5 Pakistani militants trying to cross LoC killed in landmine blast
Sources say that as part of an anti-infiltration obstacle system, forward areas on the Indian side are dotted with landmines at various places.At least five suspected Pakistani militants were killed Friday in a landmine explosion along the Line of Control, in the Battal sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s border Poonch district.Official sources said the incident took place when one of the militants, who was allegedly crossing over to the Indian side from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, accidentally stepped on a landmine laid on the Indian side.
This triggered an explosion, killing the infiltrators, sources said, adding that the militants were also carrying an IED which too exploded.

India has formally offered the indigenous Pinaka multi-launch artillery rocket systems to France at the highest-level, even as it finalises direct acquisition of 26 Rafale-Marine fighters from the country and collaboration in construction of three additional Scorpene submarines. During his talks with President Macron, PM Modi invited the French Army to take "a closer look" at the Pinaka, emphasizing that an acquisition of this system by France would be "another milestone" in the bilateral defence ties. India is already exporting the Pinaka to Armenia, while some Asean and African countries
