The aircraft was carrying 72 people, including 67 passengers and five crew members. Russian media claims that 32 have survived.
Reports indicate there are survivors, though the exact number remains unconfirmed. Kazakhstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported a fire at the crash site, which is currently being contained.
The flight was initially scheduled to land in Grozny but was redirected to Makhachkala before heading to Aktau. According to the Grozny airport press office, the plane, an Embraer E190AR, circled Aktau Airport before requesting an emergency landing. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the crash.
