Apollo Dancing with His Nine Olympian Muses by Giulio Romano
15🔥3🎉2
Sunlight in your hair, a radiant glow,
You are the sun, through time you grow.
We, the planets, spin in your embrace,
Drawn to your warmth, your endless grace.

Through cycles and death, you rise once more,
A force divine, beyond all lore.
Rebirth in your light, healing all,
Your touch, a balm when shadows fall.

O Apollon, in your light we stand,
With hearts uplifted, we take your hand.
In awe and wonder, we bow before,
The god who heals, who opens the door.

Your hands reach out where darkness lies,
Bringing truth, with no disguise.
With reason, you shine through the night,
Turning shadows into radiant light.

You touch the grief, the sorrow, the loss,
With your light, we bear no cross.
Through every ache, through every cry,
In your divine hands, we soar, we fly.

Adoration flows like rivers wide,
In your brilliance, we cannot hide.
You are the sun, the truth we seek,
In your glory, our souls are meek.

For you, Apollon, are the endless dawn,
Shining ever bright, as we move on.
Your light, your truth, your healing art,
A gift to every soul, to every heart.

...it is an act of piety and a principal concern of man to sing hymns to the Gods, who have granted articulate speech to him alone.

Ancient Greek roundel with the god Apollon, dated to the Hellenistic period, and more specifically to 150-100 BCE. Currently located in the MFA Boston, the museum stated that this roundel would have been an ornament on a horse’s bridle.

Apollon, deity of light unconstrained, accept our praise and adoration.

Golden visage, who maketh the clouds his chariot and sunbeams his reignment, we beseech Thee to bestow mercy upon creation.

Hymn to Apollon: A Prayer for the Hand Moved by the Divine

O radiant Apollon, light of intellect,
Philosopher’s muse and revealer of truth,
You who stood at the threshold of the eternal Forms,
Illuminating the path of Plato and his kin,
Bestow upon me the gift of divine reason.

As the sacred Pythia, veiled in your fire,
Breathed forth words from realms unseen,
So may my hand be moved—not by mortal fancy,
But by the harmonies of the higher spheres.

O Loxias, Lord of Prophecy,
As Iamblichus taught, the soul ascends to the One,
Not by reason alone, but through divine union.
Let my writing be more than mere speech,
Let it be theurgy—an invocation of the Real.

Guide my mind beyond the shifting shadows,
To the place where Truth dwells in radiant form.
Let each word reflect the light of Nous,
Each phrase a step upon the sacred ascent.

O Far-Darter, may my ink not be bound
By fleeting thought, but by wisdom eternal.
Make me as the priest at the shrine,
A vessel for the voice of the divine.

Hymn to Apollon: Guardian of Departing Spirits

O radiant Apollon, Healer and Seer,
Far-Darter whose light touches all life,
You who guide the souls of men and beasts alike,
Turn your golden gaze upon those we cannot save.

Not all may walk the path of healing,
Not all may linger beneath the warmth of Helios' gaze.
When pain binds them, when their breath falters,
Let your mercy be the hand that leads them beyond.

As the Pythia spoke in trance,
So too do we act—not in cruelty, but in compassion.
Let their passing be swift as your arrow’s flight,
Not burdened by fear, but carried by peace.

O Loxias, Keeper of Harmony,
Watch over these gentle souls as they cross the veil.
May they find rest in meadows untouched by suffering,
And when the Moirai weave their thread anew,
May they return to life with swifter feet, stronger hearts,
Loved as they were, honored as they should be.

For in the great turning of all things,
No spirit is truly lost, no life forgotten.
They shall walk again beneath your light,
And we shall know them when they return.

Evoe, Phoebus Apollon!

There is in fact a true law—namely, right reason—which is in accordance with nature, applies to all men, and is unchangeable and eternal... It is sinful to try to alter this law, nor is it permissible to attempt to repeal any part of it, and it is impossible to abolish it entirely. We cannot be freed from its obligations by senate or people, and we need not look outside ourselves for an expounder or interpreter of it.
