Back in 2014, the βYoβ app was launched with the sole purpose of enabling users to send each other the greeting βYo.β Earlier, crypto enthusiasts had created a self-described βmeme appβ dubbed βgmβ app wherein users would greet each other with βgmβ or βgood morningβ messages. However, in September 2021, the gm app was down after a hacker reportedly gained access to the user data. In handing down the sentence yesterday, deputy judge Peter Hui Shiu-keung of the district court said that even if Ng did not post the messages, he cannot shirk responsibility as the owner and administrator of such a big group for allowing these messages that incite illegal behaviors to exist.
