Tis better to have loved and lost , than never to have loved at all . "

Never Morning Wore to Evening but Some Heart Did Break ( 1894 ) was painted by the British artist Walter Langley ( 1852-1922 ) . It shows an old woman comforting a younger one by wrapping her arm around her shoulder . She has her head buried in her hands , and the painting suggests that she is mourning the loss of her husband , a fisherman , who has not made it home . And it's the beautiful moonlight over the sea that seems to provide an additional sign of comfort here . The title of the painting comes from the poem in Memoriam by Alfred , Lord Tennyson .
Possibly the most famous part of that poem is the following :
I hold it true , whate'er befall ; I feel it when I sorrow most ; ' Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all . The title of this painting comes from the following part : That loss is common would not make My own less bitter , rather more : Too common ! Never morning wore To evening , but some heart did break .

يكفي أن نرى. هذا العالم يذكرنا بزواله. أن تدوم الزهورُ أطول أو أقصر، فلا شيء يبقى منها.
