Locations

We hit rate limits on our geocoding process on the import. So not all imported banners have the correct location yet.

There was an issue with the import of missions. Some banners/missions show the wrong actions. That will be fixed.

Please go to Bannergress settings first and login before you do any other actions.

Also make sure you uninstall the IngressMosaik plugin. Still having problems, please try things with a fresh new chrome profile.

Hello agents!

Thank you for all your compliments, feedback, ideas, critique, and above all, adding all the new content to the website. At launch we had 30,000 banners, and we are already over 35,000 banners indexed on our site. That’s over 5000 banners added in just 4 days.

Things were, ehh, messy at the start. We still have to backlog all your suggestions in the chat. That will be done over the weekend. We will then also open up a google form to get all your input in a more structured way.

Fourty thousand

This week we reached 40,000 banners indexed on bannergress.com. What an awesome work agents, so many new missions were scanned and added to the site.

Update

We just updated bannergress.com with some new features and fixes!

Completely reworked mission numbering detections and title extraction
- added manual mode - missions get numbers in order they are added
- number detection from multiple mission groups
- detection of Asian numbers
- detecting of more numbering symbols (like №) and numbering short codes (like n.)
- detecting of numbering inside large numbers (like 0101, 0201)

Other changes:
- If you add new missions to an existing banner, title is not changed anymore.
- Sorting buttons are in line on mobile browse page
- Removed spaces in banner card on mobile
- Mobile view is detected more accurate (no jumping of navigation buttons on some resolutions)
- Added styles for warnings and errors during banner creation
- Banner type selectors now better visible (banner/collection)
- Error handling for "broken" missions data
- Other minor fixes

IITC Plug-in:
- logoff now works
- when not logged in, bannergress plug-in is not active.
- Plugin always shows mission count now even when no filters are active.

Hello agents, we just put a new version online of bannergress.com. Go check it out!


Todo/Done/Hidden

Banners now have a personal status. Add banners to your ToDo/Done/Hidden list, and it will show on the homepage, on the map and any other banner overview page.

Adding banners

There is a new button in the menu to add a new banner. You can also use the hotkey Shift+N.

We also improved title detection on new banners

Navigating through banners

Clicking on the city on a banner page now gets you other banners in that city.

You can also click on the author name to show any other banners by that author.

NIA Missions

The map now has a layer to only see official NIA mission collections. Just click on the layer chooser on the top right.

Other things

When not logged in you will see a note that you need to be signed in to see authors
Navigation links updated to use geo: on android/ios devices.
When you use bannergress on an (older) unsupported browser you will get a warning.
Various tweaks, fixes and touch ups.

Fifty thousand

Today we reached 50,000 banners indexed on bannergress.com. What an awesome work agents, so many new missions were scanned and added to the site.

Lots more to do, we still have loads of unindexed missions in our database. Lots and lots of those are of course single missions, and unfortunately lots of incomplete banners. Enjoy all your travels and the awesome banners out there! And have a great second Sunday on the 8th!

Hello agents!

We have updated bannergress again to the latest greatest version!

Online/Offline/Incomplete

Bannergress now shows which banners are online, offline or incomplete. We don’t have to do that with title changes anymore.

When clicking on the banner image, you can see the unaltered original banner image now. Offline banners are also won’t be shown in the latest banner overview and on the map.

To add incomplete banners, you can add filler missions to fill up the gaps of missing actual missions.

We still have to manually edit a lot of old titles and adjust already existing incomplete missions, that will happen over the next few weeks. We are doing that manual to make absolutely sure everything is correct for each banner Done 😁We have an awesome admin team!

Setting banners offline is still an admin job. Please post any offline request in the support chat!

Links and webpage preview

Links are now updated with the current title of the banner. Don’t worry, old links will continue to work.

We also added webpage preview metadata. If you share bannergress links, it will show you the banner image and banner info.

Do note that platforms like telegram cache website previews. If the link does not show a preview, you can update that cache using @WebpageBot

We have updated bannergress again to the latest greatest version!

Account linking

Bannergress now allows you to link your Ingress agent name to your login, via a verification process that uses the Ingress community forum. The Bannergress settings guide you through the verification process.

Owner edits

Once you have completed the verification process, you can edit certain aspects of your banner (e.g. change the banner description, add missing missions).
Note that some types of edits are still admin-only, in order to prevent vandalism.

Spanish translation

Bannergress now has a Spanish translation which is chosen if your browser is configured to display websites in Spanish.

Minor changes and bugfixes

- iOS now uses Google Maps again for navigation links.
- Metadata for preview (Telegram, Twitter, ...) has been improved.
- Rounding in time calculation has been fixed.
- Performance of author banner lists has been improved.
- Performance of banner creation has been improved.
- Banner details map can now show your location on the map.

New search

Full-text search powered by Apache Lucene. Search by banner title, description, mission title, author or id. More relevant search results are displayed first.

Offline banners

Offline banners are now hidden by default, there is a new option to display them.

Warning and planned offline date

As a banner owner, you can now add a warning text showing important information regarding your banner.
You can also set a planned offline date.

Other changes and bugfixes

- The date of the last status check is now shown on banner info card.
- Mission images are now loaded at reduced resolution.
- For developers: search API is now documented at https://api.bannergress.com/swagger-ui/index.html
- Updated backend libraries.
- Fixed: some official Niantic banners were missing on the map.

Server is back online and all seems stable again. Our Hoster has announced that they are finished with their maintenance. Happy bannergressing!
