When to hold the hands of the people you love

Hold hands when crossing the streets.
Hold hands when just passing by.
Hold hands in greeting… and in parting.
Hold hands in sorrow.
And in joy.
Hold hands while talking about deep things like your mother.
Hold hands while discussing the weather.
Hold hands when sitting together but there is nothing to say or do.
Hold hands to say I am here but words fail you.
Hold hands to say I see you… I understand.
Hold hands to say I am still with you although I seem immersed in whatever I am doing.
Hold hands to appreciate the big things and the little things.
Hold hands when crying.
Hold hands as long as there are hands to hold.
(And consent has been given)

For there will come a time… when you won’t be able to do so.

On things that remind me of home
I hesitated to drink the hibiscus tea because it looked awfully purple. I just kept on stirring and talking to him about the book purple hibiscus.

He nudged me and asked me to try it.

I hesitantly took it to my lips and smiled as I tasted it.

So?

I told him it reminds me of this vine we have at home. He asked me to tell him more about it. I told him how my mom planted it as a seedling and how I had watered it everyday till it became a big one.

“It is like a vine and tree kind of thing. It has grown so big now and it has purple flowers. I forgot its name in English. English fails me a lot of times”.

He smiled and said he will bring me a few more bags of the hibiscus tea.

እየተስገበገብሁ አየዋለሁ። ሰውነቴ ሁሉ አይን አብቅሎ ብኮመኩመው ደስ ይለኛል። ሁለት አይን አይበቃውም።

ተፈጥሮ እንደዚህ ያምራል ለካስ እላለሁ። አለማስተዋሌ ሊያስከስሰኝ ይገባል።

ሰማዩ ማማሩ። ሰማያዊ የነፍስ ቀለም ነው። ነፍስ ቢያገኟት ቁልጭ ቁልጭ የምትል ሰማያዊ ነገር ትመስለኛለች። ደመናዎቹ ፍትፍት መስለው ተቧድነዋል። ትንሽ ፍትፍት። የተንሰራፋ ፍትፍት። ደግሞ ሌላ ፍትፍት።

ከፍ ብለው የሚበሩ ወፎች። የክንፋቸው መውለብለብ የማይሰማ። በክብ እየዞሩ ይዝናናሉ። ጸሀይ አታቃጥላቸውም። የቁራ ፍቅረኞች ይደጋገፋሉ። ዛፍ ጫፍ ጫፍ ላይ ተንጠልጥለው ነጫጭ ደረታቸውን አስጥተው። አንዱ ተጠግቶ ለሌላኛዋ አንዳች የሚላት ይመስላል።

ዛፎች፣ ትናንሾቹ አትክልቶች፣ የተነጠፈው ሳር የየራሳቸውን አረንጓዴ ናቸው። የአንዱ ከአንዱ አይበልጥም። ተናብበው ይኖራሉ።

በተፈጥሮ ዝምታ የለም። ንፋሱ የሚያሸኮረምማቸው የዛፍ ቅጠሎች ይንሿሿሉ። ወፎች የሰነፍ ዜማ ያሰማሉ።

መላ ሰውነቴ አይን ሆኖ ባይ ደስ ይለኛል።

በዚህ መሆን ለኔ መልካም ነው።

Hi everyone!!!
I have been in Rwanda for almost three months now. I think I have mentioned in one or two writings.
What we are doing here is basically building startups that can be scalable to Africa.
Helen and I build this: using motorcycles to deliver prehospital emergency healthcare.
We went through lots of things and had to learn a lot of new things to come up with this amd find a way around it.

ይህች ተራራማ ከተማ... ይህች ተራራማ ሀገር... ምስጢሯን መጠበቅ አታውቅበትም። ህንጻዎቿ ከዋክብት መስለው መብራታቸውን ያንቦገቡጋሉ። በተራ የተሰደሩ መዐት ከዋክብት። መኪኖቿ በተራሮቿ መቀነት ሽር እያሉ ከአይን ሲጠፉ እዚሁ ቁጭ ባልኹበት ይታየኛል።

ከላይ ከሚንቦገቦጉት ከተሞች ስር ጭል ጭል የሚሉ ኮሳሳ ቤቶች አሉ። ቡናማ ጣሪያቸው ቀለሙ ከማይለይ ግድግዳ ጋር። ነጭ ቲሸርት የለበሱ ባለነጫጭ ጸጉር አባወራዎች በዱካ የሚቀመጡባቸው። ትናንሽ ልጆች ፀጉራቸው እንደተንጨባረረ ቂጣቸውን ጥለው የሚሮጡባቸው። ሴቶች በሚዶ ጸጉራቸውን መንጨር መንጨር የሚያደርጉባቸው። ሳፋ፣ መዘፍዘፊያ፣ ጀሪካን፣ ሙቀጫ ደግሞ ሌላም ሌላም ዝርግፍግፍ ያለባቸው። ቢጫማ አፈራቸውን የለበሱ ግቢዎች። የተደጋገፉ ቤቶች። ጩኸት፣ ጫጫታ፣ እንቅስቃሴ የማይጠፋባቸው።

የአክስቴን ቤት ያስታውሱኛል። ወይም የሌላዋን። ወይም የእከሌን።

የሚብለጨለጩት መብራቶች ትናንሾቹን እንደሚውጧቸው አውቃለሁ። ፊት ለፊቴ የተዘረጋው የበቆሎ እርሻ አስፋልት እንደሚሆን አውቃለሁ።

አይቼዋለሁ። ስም ይቀየራል። ቦታ ይቀየራል እንጂ ታሪክ አይቀየርም።

እኔ በትርጉም መጻሕፍት አደግሁ። አውግቸው ተረፈ አንድ ሺህ አንድ ሌሊትን ጨምሮ ሌሎች አንድ ሺህ መጻሕፍትን
ባይተረጉም አድማሴ በምን ይሰፋ ነበር።

አንዳንድ ግብዞች የትርጉም መጻሕፍት አልወድም ይላሉ። ስንት ቋንቋ ነው የምትናገሩት? ከምትወዷቸው ደራሲያን በእንግሊዝኛ ቋንቋ የጻፉት ስንቶቹ ናቸው? እላለሁ።

የትርጉም ስራ በጣም ከባድ ነው። ከሚደፍሩት የማይደፍሩት ይበልጣሉ። ከሚደፍሩት የማይኮሩበት ስራ የሰሩም አይታጡም። ምክንያቱም የትርጉም ስራ በጣም ከባድ ነው።

ግን እኔ ተርጓሚ ስወድ። ሼክስፒርን ሁሉ የማውቀው በአማርኛ ነው እኔ።

ይሄን መጽሐፍ ሳይ፣ በልጅነቴ ብሆን እንዴት እንደምደሳሰት ታይቶኝ ይሄን ጻፍሁ።

A long overdue post.

I wanted to share my friend's podcast here. It is one of the things I have absolute fun listening to. Because partly she has an amazing voice. And a beautiful accent. And rich rich diction!!

What?? Who speaks like that? She was made to send her wisdom and thoughts to beings like us so our hearts warm a little.

She talks about spirituality and things you already know but somehow seems to have forgotten. She is well read. She is intelligent. And she makes it all fun.

The reason why I was delayed, for four months, is because she has many listeners. And I thought I only support underdogs.

But no. I support all good contents which usually unfortunately are not well known.

ሞተር ሳይክል እንጂ።

ጨዋታን ጨዋታ ያነሳዋል እና አንድ ኢትዮጵያዊ አባት አግኝተን እያዋሩን ቤታችሁ ሩቅ ነው ወይ እየነዳችሁ መጣችሁ ወይስ ተራምዳችሁ አሉን።

አይ በሞተር። አልናቸው። ተደነቁ። ማለት? ተማሪዎች ናችሁ? አሉን።

አይ የሀገሬው ህዝብም እኮ እንዲያው ነው የሚሄደው አልናቸው።

አልጣማቸውም።

በድንጋጤ አየን። ምነው ተማሪዎች ናችሁ አለን

ሳቅን። ሰፈራችን፣ ባለፈውም እንደጻፍኹት፣ ከገበሬዎች መኃል የበቀለች አፓርትመንት ናት። ወጣ ስትል የምታየው፣ እርሻ ነው። ታይቶ የማይታወቅ ወፍ ምናምን። ከዛ ደግሞ ተራራ።

የከተማዋ መጨረሻ ነው ይላሉ የሀገሬው ሰዎች። ይሁን እንላለን።

እና የሞተር ሳይክል ነገር...

እንግዲህ ነጂዎ እና ተሳፋሪዎ ይቀመጣሉ። መሄድ ነው።

ኪጋሊ አንዴ ዳገት አንዴ ቁልቁለት ስለሆነች፣ የሹፌሩ ጀርባ ላይ ሆኖ ወደ ላይ ወደታች ነው። አንዳንዴማ ልብ የሚያርድ ቁልቁለት አለ። በእግሬ ወርጄ ታች ልጠብቅ የሚያስብል። ቋንቋ ቢኖር የምር።

ቋንቋ ቢባል ሞተሮች በፍጥነት እየገሰገሱ ሳለ እንደማስቆም ወይ ታጠፍ እንደማለት ከባድ ነገር የለም።

በጭንቅላት የሚደረገው ሄልሜት ከንፋሱ ሽውታ ጋር አያሰማማም። ብትሰማማም አትግባባም። አንዴማ ነፍስ ቢይዘኝ መታኹት። ''ወደግራ ታጠፍ ኡኡኡኡኡኡ''

ከዛ ሌላ ምን አሳቀኝ?
ለካስ ሞተር ሳይክል ሹፌሮች ተሳፋሪዎችን በማዋራት እና በማሰልቸት ይታወቃሉ።
አንድ ሩዋንዳዊ ጎደኛዬ ጋር ሳወራ፣ የመረረኝ የሞተር ሳይክል ሹፌር ታሪክ መስማት ነው ብሎኝ ስቄ ልሞት።
ቋንቋ ቢችሉ ማንንም አይምሩም እያለኝ። እኛ ልጄ ማን አዋርቶን ያውቃል። ዘፈናችንን እየሰማን ሽር ነው እያልኹት ቀና።
