Prominent Yemeni Imam Detained During Fajr Prayers

Prominent Yemeni Imam, Sheikh Muhammad al-Kazmi, was brutally detained during an armed raid on Umar Ibn al-Khattab mosque in Aden’s Mansoura District.

Security forces affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council brutally raided the mosque at Fajr time, fired live bullets and stun grenades whilst violently abducting the Imam, a flagrant violation of the sanctity of the mosque.

No official statement has been issued about the motives for the brutal raid and the abduction of the Imam.

Due to widespread condemnation and backlash, Sheikh al-Kazmi was released hours later.
