Recently, horrifying quotes from Israeli soldiers such as, “I felt like a Nazi” and, “the moment you enter the Gaza strip you are God” went viral. What these quotes show isn’t just the magnitude of the war crimes Israeli soldiers regularly commit against Palestinians, but also that the Israeli military’s abuse of Palestinians has been going on for decades. These quotes are from interviews conducted with soldiers in 1987-1993, and were published in a book in 2012.

As news broke about an imminent ceasefire deal, the Israeli government intensified its attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Since the ceasefire announcement, the Israeli military has killed at least 87 Palestinians.

This is horrific. Unfortunately, it’s also what Palestinians warned of. The Israeli military typically increases its attacks days and hours before a ceasefire is implemented, and this time is no different.

As Palestinians in Gaza anxiously await a pause to the Israeli government’s genocidal campaign so that they can access food and medicine, assess the true scale of devastation, mourn the lives of those killed, reunite with family members, and begin to rebuild their homes, they are still under threat of Israeli bombardment. source
