one of my top ten french behaviors is that i find it deeply jarring to see croissants (as a whole) be considered as "pastries". a Pastry is an éclair or perhaps a millefeuille or lemon tart or macaron. it is colorful and sugary and generally dainty (not always) or indulgent (not always). croissants (including chocolate/almond croissants) are Not! Pastries. but carmine, you cry! what are they then? VIENNOISERIES. like wien. you know. the city. we stole them from the austrians like a william years ago. no yeah no it Is a stupid name. still not a Pastry however,

Btw, privatization is stealing from *you.* You are the public in "publicly owned." Oligarchs are coming in to take the things we all share ownership of as Americans, like Medicare, Social Security, National Parks, PBS and scrapping them for parts they find profitable.

The right is planning to rob us and quite literally want us to thank them for the privilege by calling it "government efficiency."

Tumblr user turnabout:

things that are "privatized" have to make a profit or the owners will kill them.

there are things that we as a society once thought were important enough that we wanted them EVEN THOUGH they didn't make a profit and wanted them to be accessible to ALL at a price point that wasn't necessarily profitable. (K-12 education, libraries, national parks, PBS, medicare, social security)

These are feasible at this scale because we decide they are. Private equity is going to take that from you. source

"If the point of having a society *isn't* to care for each other, to ease suffering and realize each life's potential, literally what is the point?

"To hoard wealth? To build empires on other people's throats?

"Life is brief, nothing lasts. Wealth and empires are pointless violence." source
