2020年「六四」燭光集會後，支聯會常委及民主派多人被控，各被告分別被票控「舉行未經批准集結」、「煽惑他人參與未經批准集結」及「明知而參與未經批准集結」等罪。
「六四集會案」審訊過程漫長，岑敖暉、袁嘉蔚、梁凱晴正就刑期提出上訴；另20名被告包括黎智英、李卓人、何俊仁、鄒幸彤等亦將陸續上庭：
・ 7月23日：未確定是否認罪的10位被告將上庭表達認罪意向
・ 9月9日：已表示認罪2位被告將上庭求情
・ 11月1日：不認罪8位被告開審
支聯會承擔所有被告的訴訟費用，除獲法援的數位被告外，預計訟費高達50至100萬，十分需要市民捐款支持。

支聯會作出策略性人手調整以應對嚴峻政治環境

過去一年，香港政治環境急劇轉壞；作為香港民間社會一部分，香港市民支援愛國民主運動聯合會（支聯會）近月尤其受到愈發愈激烈和明顯的政治打壓。支聯會一直堅持基本原則與信念，並不時評估政治形勢變化作出應對；最近，支聯會常委會在多番商議後，決議作出兩方面「防風」措施：
第一，策略性減少常委數目：現屆支聯會常委已由歷屆20名減至14名，面對當前愈趨嚴峻的政治法律風險，支聯會常委會決定再策略性減少常委數目。近日，現屆常委中先後有7人表示辭任支聯會常委職務，包括蔡耀昌、麥海華、盧偉明、黃志強、倫智偉、梁國華和趙恩來；以上7人請辭後，現屆支聯會常委數目將減少一半，而仍留任的7名常委包括現時正失去人身自由的主席李卓人及副主席何俊仁和鄒幸彤。
第二，遣散所有支聯會職員：因應政治與法律風險的增加，支聯會常委會認為應盡力保障職員的安全，因此，支聯會將於7月底全面遣散所有職員，並以優於勞工法例標準向同事作出補償。
因應常委人數大幅減少、所有職員被遣散，再加上近月有小部分成員團體退出，支聯會承認對於日後工作的推展與組織運作確有所影響，希望各方面能夠理解與體諒；但不管面對任何困難與挑戰，支聯會將繼續咬緊牙關、「一步一腳印」地走下去。

...These include Richard Tsoi Yiu-cheong, Mak Hoi-wah, Lo Wai-ming, Wong Chi-keung, Lun Chi-wai, Leung Kwok-wah and Chiu Yan-loy. Their resignations reduce the number of current Standing Committee members by half. The remaining seven Standing Committee members include chairman Lee Cheuk-yan, vice-chairmen Albert Ho and Chow Hang-tung, all three of whom have lost their liberty.
Second, dismissing all Alliance staff. In response to increasing political and legal risks, the Standing Committee believes that every effort should be made to ensure the safety of our staff. Therefore, Hong Kong Alliance will terminate the employment of all employees at the end of July and will offer better compensation than the standards stipulated in labour laws.
Hong Kong Alliance recognizes that the decrease in the number of Standing Committee members, the dismissal of all employees, and the withdrawal of some members of the organization in recent months will have an impact on future work and asks for the understanding of all parties. However, even in the face of such difficulties and challenges, Hong Kong Alliance will continue to persevere step by step.

2010年12月10日，諾貝爾和平獎頒獎典禮上，世人見證一張空凳。空凳上放了劉曉波的和平獎。空凳成為中共鎮壓人權的新符號。當年我和何俊仁、劉慧卿出席頒獎典禮見證這重要時刻，難忘的不單是空凳，晚上更參加火炬遊行，去到為和平獎得主而設的宴會外，酒店牆外打出劉曉波的照片，我們就在酒店外，高呼釋放劉曉波，希望全世界有良知的人民、世界領袖能聚焦關注劉曉波的自由，及中國的人權狀況。
劉曉波是中國80年代改革開放初期，天才橫溢的文壇奇才，其辛辣的文字挑戰既有體制。大家都會記得，他當年說過：「香港100年殖民地變成今天這樣，中國那麼大，當然需要300年殖民地，才會變成香港這樣。300年夠不夠？我還有懷疑。」可想而知其言行之大膽前瞻。就在他學術前景一片光明時，毅然放棄在海外發展學術的舒適安穩生活，於1989年4月26日從紐約登機回國，即時投入洶湧澎湃的八九民運。
我在獄中看了劉曉波的「六四」回憶錄《末日倖存者的獨白》，他坦誠面對自己，以真誠嚴肅態度自我剖析，展示八九民運真實一面。其中花了不少篇幅，講述在秦城監獄寫悔過書的心路歷程，及對他所構成的心理壓力，獲釋後，他面對的是社會輿論的苛責，但他沒有逃避，而是真誠的剖白自己。他悔愧交加，但沒有自欺欺人，而是坦誠面對自己的內心世界，並將內心所思所想，赤裸裸地展視人前。他公開承認：「坐牢，沒有勇氣和堅韌，爭取到了自由，又想貪得無厭地保持良好的公眾形象。」這使我想起自己在「六四」屠殺後，在6月8日為求自由而簽署的悔過書。日後我不斷反思，是否不簽悔過書也能重獲自由？是否自己太軟弱？回到香港，我不也是為保持良好的公眾形象而諸多解釋，不敢面對自己的軟弱？
