“Cursed were the makers of the trench,
[containing] the fire full of fuel
when they sat around it,
to watch what they were doing to the believers.
Their only grievance against them was their faith in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy
to whom all control over the heavens and earth belongs: Allah is witness over all things.
Indeed, for those who persecute believing men and women, and do not repent afterwards, there will be the torment of Hell and burning.
Surely those who believe and do good will have Gardens under which rivers flow. That is the greatest triumph.”
Surah Al Burooj, Verses 4-11

In these verses, Allah speaks about some believers in the past who were thrown into a trench that was lit with fire.
Immediately, Allah reminds the believers that He is in full control over everything.
One may question that if Allah is in control, why did He allow the believers to be killed that way?
We can only make sense of this if we are truly believers in the unseen, fate and the hereafter - if we truly accept that our wisdom and knowledge are limited and Allah's Wisdom and Knowledge are limitless.
Allah warns those who commit such crimes that they they will be punished - such a punishment that has no end.
As for those who believed, when they enter into Jannah, they will forget every moment of pain, and they will be in peace and comfort forever.
