The happiness will not be complete until all of our soldiers return from the frontlines, until they meet their mothers and wives, until their children hug them; until our young people, girls and boys, create the necessary number — necessary for us, for Russia — of families and have children. On December 20, Vladimir Putin will preside at a meeting of the State Council to discuss supporting families of the Russian Federation
🔹The meeting will evaluate the achievements of the 2024 Year of the Family initiative, and examine what kind of federal support measures are needed to reverse Russia's demographic trends, which steps are already being taken by regional authorities, which best practices are now in place, and how to mount effective public relations campaigns to promote family values and enhance the prestige of multi-child parenting.
🔹Minister of Labour and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov, Governor of the Novgorod Region and Chair of State Council Commission on Family Andrei Nikitin, and Head of the Russian Popular Front Executive Committee Mikhail Kuznetsov will present reports.

During today's State Council session, we will discuss proposals for providing more effective and impactful support for families in the future.

During the meeting of the State Council to discuss support for families, the President suggested addressing a number of issues, including:
🔸comprehensively evaluating the efficiency of the pilot project for increasing the birth rate;
🔸engaging businesses and employers to take a more active part in solving the demographic issues;
🔸adding steps aimed at increasing the quality of life of families with children to various national projects;
🔸taking measures to preserve and improve the health of both adults and children, all family generations;
🔸encouraging younger adults to have children early.
Additionally, the President has announced a number of decisions:
🔹all the social benefits, privileges, and payments provided to holders of the Hero of Labour honorary title will be extended to women holding the title of Mother Heroine;
🔹the limitations of pensions rights for parents of five or more children will be addressed; specifically, childcare for each child will be counted towards work experience when calculating pensions;
🔹families are to be allowed to also buy resale housing at the preferential mortgage rate of 6 percent.

With this in view, I suggest declaring 2025 the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland to honour our heroes, to pay respects to both the participants in the special military operation that is unfolding today, and the feats of all our ancestors who fought for our homeland in different historical periods, as well as our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers who triumphed over Nazism.
