🩹 St. Petersburg Polytechnic scientists have created Russia's first medical "Smart Dressing" for healing chronic wounds with electrostimulation.

The dressing uses a bioelectrode consisting of a composite based on graphene, polymiimide and chitosan gel.

Electrostimulation leads to faster and more effective healing of wounds and ulcers, providing hemostatic, antimicrobial and regeneration stimulating action, increases the effectiveness and speed of penetration of pharmacological agents, reduces the likelihood of scar tissue formation. The dressing can be sterilized and reused.

Glory to you, Leningrad, hardened
In the heat of battle, in the fire of barricades.
Banners pierced by bullets in battles
Nowhere, never bowed Leningrad.

- Konstantin Simonov

πŸ•ŠοΈ 80 years since the end of the Siege of Leningrad.
Since the end of the longest battle of the Great Patriotic War.

🟒 From July 10, 1941 to August 9, 1944 Leningrad was completely surrounded by enemy troops, but its inhabitants, including polytechnics, did not surrender. They continued to work in factories and plants despite hunger and cold.
🟒 1127 days they performed feats, kept faith and hope. And it is impossible to defeat a nation with such courage, willpower and determination.

We are proud and remember! And we want you to remember the history of our Hero-City, be proud of those who did not give up in the hardest times and take an example from them.

Bright memory to the heroes! πŸ•Š

Let's start the week with bright news! ⚑️

A team of scientists from our university, St. Petersburg State University, and the St. Petersburg Research Academic University of the Russian Academy of Sciences named after Zh. I. Alferov has developed a method for enhancing the luminescence of sensor proteins that can monitor the membrane potential of cells. This method can be used in medical research on the brain and heart or for drug development.

The results of the research supported by the RNF grant were published in the scientific journal ACS Physical Chemistry Au, and the article was placed on the cover of the printed version of the publication.
