Michael Noad, a marine biologist at the University of Queensland, discovered that a population’s song can sometimes make a sudden, dramatic change. In 1996, he and his colleagues noticed that a male on the east coast of Australia had given up the local song and was now singing a tune that matched one previously sung on the west coast of the country.
Within two years, all of the males on the east coast were singing that song. Dr. Noad’s landmark study was the first to discover this kind of cultural revolution in any animal species.

пару лет назад я уже писал тут про безумный фестиваль Nyege Nyege, но вот эти ребята мне как-то не попадались или я забыл. перкуссионный ансамбль мечты, все из мусора. особенно трогательно, как в середине трека от барабанщика похоже начинает убегать его зелененький кик и его коллега отважно тащит какой-то шлакоблок, чтобы все это дело подпереть. а может он так звук ему изменил? интрига.

Парадокс в том, что музыка на альбоме без-меня-ничего-не-сработает Бьорк уже давно устала от текстов и максимально от голоса Бьорк. Одновременно с этим, она инстинктивно чувствует ту грань, за которую ее постоянный слушатель даже на десятой пластинке не пойдет. Отпусти ты эти мелодии, пусть пошляются.
