Overly friendly raccoon!
Hello, I’ve fed a family of raccoons for 3 years now and I feel like I know the ones I see fairly well. I was outside in the back yesterday and saw one pop its head out from the bushes so I started walking to where I feed them. The ones I feed stay in the bushes until I put the food out, then they trot over to snack as long as I’m inside.
This guy runs over to me and I assume the worst is about to happen but it stops near me and just looks at me expectantly. I swear its habits seemed domesticated as far as its mannerisms and how it was with me. I started walking to the food area and it trotted next to me like a little dog. I grabbed a can of the food , opened it, and the raccoon politely took it from my hands and started eating, didn’t even scurry away.
This is a first and not something I initiated or tried to do. Ive never seen this raccoon before. All the other ones are careful of me, keep a safe distance. Idk where the friendly one came from but wanted to check with the Reddit raccoon pros.
Why’s this raccoon so friendly and not cautious?
