Goodbye for Now to the Robot That (Sort Of) Patrolled New York’s Subway
The New York Police Department’s Knightscope K5 debuted in Times Square amid fanfare from Mayor Eric Adams. It ended its brief tour exiled to a vacant storefront, all alone.

The failed state of mainstream western media is vividly exposed in its coverage of Carlson's interview with Putin. Even before the tape was released, Carlson was marginalized. Not that he's not a manipulator and a preacher to the conservative crowd, that he is, but it pays to give him the benefit of the doubt in this context.
My personal bar was set very low, and yet he managed to screw it up anyways. To begin, the translator Tucker used, didn't have a good grip. I was able to catch a few mistakes and some oddities in the first half hour. Tucker was complicit and ill prepared. He acted as a school boy in front of a teacher. I had a feeling he was priming conservative crowd for Trump, by agreeing to conspiratorial points made. No, the CIA doesn't run our government.
But the bigger tragedy was in post mortem coverage. As usual, the media devoted its attention to low hanging fruits and ignored the big guns. Yes, Putin's historical opus had major problems and was largely irrelevant, which Tucker acknowledged. The funniest IMHO, was about Austro-Hungarian Empire creating Ukrainian nationalists in preparation for WW1. A well established false narrative in Russia. Gees, nobody knew the Great War was coming, especially in the late 19th century. Ukrainian nationalists moved out due to the hard-line policies of Nicolas I. A touchy story of Putin reminding Zelenskiy of his father who fought in WW2 can't be true, as Z's father was born later. Probably Putin meant grandfather. The point about Poland collaborating with Hitler was a huge stretch, but Poland did participate in land grab from Czechoslovakia. Putin conveniently omitted that soviets collaborated with Hitler too. Perhaps a policy of appeasement, as practiced by Britain and France, could be interpreted as collaboration. There were other historical inaccuracies. However, it's all water under the bridge. It doesn't matter, and yet most of the criticism has been applied there.
But just because some of the points were garbage, doesn't mean the entire spiel was. There were some acute ones that are actually relevant to the current situation. That's where our glorious media was silent. Why wouldn't it be, if the dude was already labeled evil. To put it simply, all pre-existing biases the media had on the interviewee were extended with the help of the new content. That's not journalism. That's the same low quality manipulations Tucker is being accused of. The only difference is he entertains the conservative crowd and other outlets the liberal one.
Why didn't they follow up on the NATO expansion story and the 2008 Bucharest summit. Why no attention was given to the roll out of missile defense systems in Poland. These were factual developments. Meddling in Ukraine, say what? Rhetorical questions, I know.
Correctly or not, Russia sees a threat to its national security. Perception trumps reality. Pretending it's all a bunch of lies won't stop people from being killed. Simply declaring it propaganda only makes things worse. The job of the media ought to be asking hard questions to both sides. No wonder people like Tucker are able to capture so many viewers. It's because the CNNs of the world are cheerleading our foreign policy, no matter what it is.

Peter principle suggests that people end up promoted to "a level of respective incompetence". It applies to corporate structures, but not exclusively. Smart people will realize a ceiling is reached and will seek better pastures. From a pragmatic business point of view, it's better to let such an employee go. It doesn't pay to witness a failure caused by an individual's incompetence. Nor a demotion will sit well with a human ego. This could cause more damage.
I think this idea also applies to personal relationships. And that's where it could get really messy, really fast. Imagine a situation where you get to know someone. Initially, you treat him as an outsider, who happened to spark your interest somehow. Over time a closer relationship develops. A said individual is being promoted so to speak. As time goes by and you get to know each other better, an even closer bond forms. Yet, at some point, a certain quality or a shortcoming will expose itself, and you will realize that a plateau is reached. Perhaps you even went over the top. That's the point you realize no further developments with this individual, Things could remain where they are, but no entry to the next circle of trust. That's your view. The other side, desiring more "promotions" might get frustrated by the lack of it. Not a wise individual, who will understand and hopefully accept or walk. It's a childish egomaniac that would be a problem.
Hopefully a time for explanations never comes.

easyJet a low-cost airline. At the gate an agent verifies for the carry on to fit into a cage. If it doesn't, a passenger must pay up. So, I took two laptops from my bag and it fit. A few steps later put them right back.

Очень необычное пиво. Первый раз такое пью. По стилю и запаху похоже на бельгийское, но с цитрусовыми нотками. Сделано из пшеницы и винограда. Гибрид, но классифицируется как 🍺.
