На иконографии Страшного Суда можно заметить, как из пастей животных (иногда даже из хобота слона) торчат ноги, руки, головы людей. Это занятный сюжет "Земля и небо отдают мертвецов". Помимо конечностей, торчащих из зверей, этот сюжет также выражен в виде встающих из гробов усопших, вылезающих из моря утопленников и пр.
