Astrophysicists have discovered planet 2MASS J2126-8140, a trillion kilometres away from its star β˜€οΈ

It is the largest planetary system in the Universe known to us. The distance between the star and the planet is 169 times the distance between Pluto and the Sun. One year on this planet lasts 900,000 Earth years.

Sarah Gillies, a crew member of the Polaris Dawn spacecraft, performed the melody "Rey's Theme" from "Star Wars" by composer John Williams 🎧 on the violin.

The performance was accompanied by an orchestra from Earth, connected via the Starlink satellite network.

In the early Universe, just 500 million years after the Big Bang, astronomers discovered a supermassive black hole 🌌

Its mass of about 10 million solar masses was unexpectedly large for such an early period.

This black hole, found in the UHZ1 galaxy, is surprising because its mass is comparable to the mass of all other matter in the galaxy.

The Falcon 9 rocket launch left a spectacular trail in the sky over San Diego County πŸš€

The setting sun illuminated the expanding hot gases, creating a picturesque scene.

Image of black hole ejecting streams obtained ΠΏΠ»Π°Π·ΠΌΡ‹βš«οΈ

It was possible to capture streams beating from the supermassive black hole in the centre of the galaxy Messier 87 (M87), located at a distance of about 16.4 million parsecs from the Earth (the first picture, the rest - fantasies of artists on the theme). A few years ago, M87 was also the first black hole to be imaged directly.

Jets of plasma - so-called jets, or relativistic jets - occasionally burst out of the centres of active galaxies, quasars and radio galaxies. Presumably, the emissions are caused by the interaction of magnetic fields with the accretion disc around a neutron star or black hole.

The image also clearly shows accretion - the process by which the base of such a jet of plasma travelling at almost light speed - combines with matter swirling around a supermassive black hole before hitting its surface for the first time.

A rocket test by the private Chinese startup Deep Blue Aerospace didn't go as planned: at the last moment during landing, Nebula-1 collapsed and exploded.

The entire flight was filmed from a drone, so despite the failure, it turned out to be an epic video. The results of the test will be used for the next flight in November

Scientists have found a way to "hear" cosmic events such as exploding stars or the work of the Mars rover 🦻

Despite the lack of sound in space, astrophysical scientists have developed a technique called sonification that can turn data about cosmic phenomena into sound waves.

So, for example, electromagnetic fluctuations, particle motion or light echoes of stars can be translated into sounds that can be heard.

β˜„οΈ On 12 October it will be possible to see a bright comet with the naked eye.

Comet C/2023 A3 will reach its maximum brightness and will be available for observation from the Northern Hemisphere of planet Earth from 12 October.

At that time, the comet will be observable between the bright stars Spica (Ξ± Virginis) and Arcturus (Ξ± Volopassus).

Stars, like all objects in the galaxy, are constantly moving 🌌

However, the human age is too short to notice these changes in the sky.

The video shows the proper motion of stars in a small patch of sky around the constellation of the Big Dipper over a period of 300,000 years (150,000 BCE to 150,000 CE)
