Pepe the Frog was created back in 2005 by Matt Furie and has since become an internet symbol for meme culture and βdegenβ culture. Hui said the messages, which included urging the disruption of airport operations, were attempts to incite followers to make use of poisonous, corrosive or flammable substances to vandalize police vehicles, and also called on others to make weapons to harm police. Judge Hui described Ng as inciting others to βcommit a massacreβ with three posts teaching people to make βtoxic chlorine gas bombs,β target police stations, police quarters and the cityβs metro stations. This offence was βrather serious,β the court said.
