"Heshmatollah Ghawami, BSc, MA, completed his MA in psychology with a focus on neuropsychology and brain injury under the joint supervision of Sina Trauma and Surgery Research Center (STSRC), Tehran University of Medical Sciences (co-supervisor: Professor Vafa Rahimi-Movaghar, neurosurgeon) and the Department of Psychology, University of Sistan and Baluchestan (co-supervisor: Dr. Mahvash Raghibi, psychologist). In recent years, he has developed and implemented educational programs of neuropsychology in STSRC. His research activities focus on the assessment of higher-level cognitive functions of the brain and neuropsychological rehabilitation of traumatic brain injury patients. On October 5, 2016, Professor Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, the STSRC’s director, appointed Mr. Ghawami to establish the Neuropsychology Division of STSRC. From 2016 to the present, Mr. Ghawami is the researcher in charge of the STSRC’s Neuropsychology Division. So far, the division has held 14 workshops on neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation, either independently or with the collaboration of reputable medical and research institutions of the country, including the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, the Roozbeh Hospital, the National Brain Mapping Laboratory (NBML), and the Ziaeian Hospital.
Recently, the Neuropsychology Division completed the following research projects:
a. Development of six national clinical guidelines covering all relevant phases of care, for cognitive assessment and rehabilitation of Iranian traumatic brain injury patients, with the contribution of a national interdisciplinary panel of experts from across the country. The project was supported by Iran’s Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology and conducted under the supervision of the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education.
