وسبب ذلك هو أن انستاجرام يشغل المرء بالمقارنات، والسباق نحو الكمال والتنافس في الجمال، وبالتالي يعزز انستاجرام دومًا شعور المرء بعدم الكفاية، والغيرة، والحسد، والتفاخر، والعجب بالنفس.
