Из текста наградного листа о представлении бойца Никулина к ордену «Славы» 3-й степени (было отклонено командованием и заменено медалью «За отвагу»): «Непрерывно находясь в боевых порядках наступающей пехоты, помощник командира взвода Никулин осуществлял разведку целей и корректировку огня своей батареи. В бою 27 июня 1944 года при отражении контратак обнаружил и вызвал огонь на 15 целей. В результате точной корректуры огнём батареи рассеяно и частично уничтожено до роты пехоты противника».
