This is the famous Shell Chair many of you may have noticed in the pictures of “The Spaceship House” above. The chair was designed by Hans Wegner, one of the leading designers of the past century who created almost 500 chairs over his career and was named the master of the chair.

The initial release of this chair in 1963 was received with a tepid response from the public (they felt it was too avant-garde) and the chair was produced and sold in small quantities until 1998, when it was relaunched by Carl Hansen & Søn to immediately become a huge success.
