📢In connection with publication by UNESCO of biennial Report of the Director-General on the safety of journalists and the issue of #EndImpunity (2022-2023) we are outraged that A.Azoulay ignored the official information provided by the Russian Side, as well as by some other countries, about the journalists' killings. The DG relies on comments of some biased NGOs under the “methodology” that has not been approved by Member-States.

☝️This runs contrary to the intergovernmental status of UNESCO and constitutes a violation of the Organzation's Governing bodies' decesions that task the DG to condemn killings of journalists “without distinction.”

📍 The report’s statistics is biased. According to A.Azoulay not a single journalist has been killed in Russia in 2022-2023. There is not a single word about the killings of D.Dugina, V. Tatarsky, O.Klokov and many others.

By the way, in Palestine, according to A.Azoulay, only 24 journalists were killed in 2023, what clearly contradicts reality.

📍Conscious “deafness” and “blindness” may be the only explanation of the fact that A.Azoulay decided to ignore numerous requests from the Russian Side. This raises the question of her impartiality and competence as an international civil servant. This issue will be raised at the forthcoming IPDC Intergovernmental Council meeting.
