🚨Democracy for Iran on Autopilot? Time to Hit the Brakes and Reboot
*An Open Letter to @elonmusk, Visionary Architect of Optimization*

Dear Elon,
You’re on a mission to slash unnecessary government spending—let me highlight a prime candidate. For nearly two decades, the U.S. government has funnelled billions into programs aimed at promoting democracy and human rights in Iran. The results? Disappointing at best. These initiatives are rife with inefficiencies, lack measurable outcomes, and, worst of all, are managed by individuals who wouldn’t meet the standards you demand in any of your companies.
Here’s a thought experiment: imagine if the people running these projects applied for leadership roles at Tesla or SpaceX. Would their lacklustre track records of mediocrity, inefficiency, and minimal impact get them past the first interview? Probably not. So why are they entrusted with something as critical as shaping democracy for an entire nation?
The truth is much of this funding has been wasted on so-called “experts” living comfortably outside Iran, far removed from the struggles of the people they claim to represent. Their focus often lies in maintaining their funding streams rather than delivering real results. They lack the innovation, accountability, and measurable impact required in any successful venture—and certainly in a mission as critical as fostering democracy.
The outcomes tell the story: bloated reports, redundant initiatives, and exaggerated narratives designed to justify their existence rather than produce change. Meanwhile, the real work of empowering Iranians remains undone, and the nation’s aspirations for freedom and democracy go unfulfilled. If this level of performance wouldn’t cut it at Tesla or SpaceX, why is it acceptable here?
This is where you come in. You’ve disrupted industries, set new standards for excellence, and proven that mediocrity has no place where real results are required. The same principles can and should be applied here: demand excellence, eliminate waste, and focus relentlessly on impact.
Let’s not just evaluate the programs but also the people running them. Are they truly qualified? Do they have the vision and competence needed for such a critical mission? Conducting a performance audit could separate the real change-makers from the opportunists.
If these individuals wouldn’t make the cut in your companies, why are they in charge of such a monumental task? Mediocrity and complacency have no place when the stakes are this high.
These U.S.-Funded organizations are the major ones that need a hard reset and fresh audit
