Answer :

1. As for at-Tabari, he only quotes a passage from a book that was written specifically to defame Mu'awiya, may Allah be pleased with him.

At-Tabari begins quoting this book from page 55:

"People used to say that the book that al-Mu'tadid ordered to be compiled with curses against Mu'awiyah was to be read from the minbar after the Friday prayer. When the people performed the Friday prayer, they hurried to a separate room to hear the reading of this book, but it was not read.

It is mentioned that al-Mu'tadid ordered the extraction of a book that al-Ma'mun had previously ordered to be compiled containing curses against Mu'awiya. The book was taken out of the chancery and a copy of the text was taken from its chapters. It is reported that this was a copy of the book compiled for al-Mu'tadid bi-llah:...".

And then at-Tabari quotes the contents of this book, including the passage that the Rafidis use as their argument.

2. As for the hadith itself, it is obviously made up, because how could Yazid have been a camel driver during the time of the Prophet ๏ทบ, if he was not even born during his time? Yazid was born in the 26th year of the Hijra, 16 years after the death of the Prophet ๏ทบ.

If he had been old enough to be a camel driver during the lifetime of the Prophet ๏ทบ, he would have been considered one of the Companions, but this contradicts even the Shiite version of the biography of the Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ.

So the Shiites screwed up both ways, as always.
