In June 2024, John came to help Ukraine despite having no military experience, but he couldn't have known that he would fall victim to those he tried to help.
John and his friend Zachary were victims of Ukrainian corruption and lies in late September 2024 near the village of Novohrodivka, in the Pokrovsk region.
The story told is that there was an ambush and they say that he didn't run away, but fought for hours with some others, resisting a massive force and that he stayed until he couldn't fight anymore, so that others could escape alive.
Perhaps Ukrainian commander Sasha will be able to tell John’s relatives what really happened, but we know that won't happen.
When Ukrainian commanders want to kill foreigners, they just send them on suicide missions with a high risk of death.
John was not the first and will certainly not be the last to be killed by his own.
Both bodies were found by Russian troops and are awaiting exchange.
