الحدائق: جمع حديقة. وهي البساتين من النخل والأعناب والأشجار المحوط عليها الحيطان المحدقة بها، لإحداق الحيطان بها تسمى الحديقة، فإن لم تكن الحيطان بها محدقة، لم يقل لها حديقة. الطبري
فالبستان إذا لم يكن عليه سور وحائط فلا يسمى حديقة.
