لذا قال شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية :
"قولنا بتفسير الصحابة والتابعين لعلمنا بأنهم بلغوا عن الرسول ﷺ مالم يصل إلينا إلا بطريقهم ، وأنهم علموا معنى ما أنزل الله على رسوله تلقياً عن الرسول ، فيمتنع أن نكون نحن مصيبين في فهم القرآن ، وهم مخطئون ، وهذا يعلم بطلانه ضرورة عادةً وشرعاً "
