🇺🇿🇰🇿🇰🇬Ministers of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan during the round table in Tashkent defined the main stages of construction of Kambar-Ata-1 HPP

The topic of discussion was the development of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP project on the Naryn River in Kyrgyzstan.

Currently, the Kyrgyz side is carrying out activities to update the feasibility study. This includes assessment of technical, economic, financial, environmental and social components of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP project, as well as other activities and studies necessary for implementation.

The capacity of the power plant will be about 1860-2000 megawatts, and the annual electricity production will be about 5.6 billion kWh. And the reservoir itself will hold a volume of more than 5.4 billion cubic meters.

At the moment, preparatory work is underway, with construction work such as road construction, tunneling and site infrastructure noted in the latest updates.

Discussions have been held and agreements reached on joint implementation, including the creation of a joint stock company in which Kyrgyzstan will hold a 34% stake and Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will each hold a 33% stake. Uzbekistan has expressed interest in participating as a shareholder.

The project is aimed at solving the problem of electricity shortage in Kyrgyzstan, which will allow exporting it to neighboring countries and regions. For example, to Pakistan.

The project can improve regional water management and contribute to energy security in Central Asia.

It is seen as a step towards reducing dependence on arid hydrological cycles and promoting energy independence.

If completed, the project could significantly change the Central Asian energy landscape, providing Kyrgyzstan with significant power generation opportunities while maneuvering through complex regional water and energy politics.
