#Peru, Machu Picchu🇵🇪
For many years Machu Picchu was featured as the lost city of the Incas, but Bingham's letters made it clear that the site had always been known to the local population and the road to it was easily accessible. What the scientist was actually looking for when he often wrote about the “lost city” and whether he found it in Machu Picchu, now hardly anyone will know.
Another secret of the city is the unique design of some buildings. Initially, archaeologists and scientists assumed that they were built according to the wrong design, but observations of the design revealed an interesting fact. During an earthquake, the stones of these buildings move in different directions and then fall into place, thereby saving the structure from destruction.
