Парад прошёл на Красной площади, в нём участвовали более 35 тысяч человек и свыше 1800 единиц военной техники. Символом окончательной победы СССР в Великой Отечественной войне стали 200 знамён поверженных дивизий нацистов, брошенные к подножью мавзолея.
