عن أبي جعفر (ع) قال: إن العبد ليكون بارا بوالديه في حياتهما ثم يموتان, فلا يقضي عنهما ديونهما ولا يستغفر لهما فيكتبه الله عاقا, وإنه ليكون عاقا لهما في حياتهما غير بار بهما فإذا ماتا قضى دينهما واستغفر لهما فيكتبه الله عز وجل بارا.
Imam Mohammad Al-Baqir (Pbuh) said, "Certainly, a servant may be dutiful to his parents during their lifetime, and when they die, he does not settle their debts nor seek forgiveness for them. Allah then writes him down as undutiful. On the other hand, there may be a person who is undutiful to his parents during their lifetime, yet when they die, he settles their debts and seeks forgiveness for them.
