На американской авиабазе Трэвис 26 сентября состоялась церемония прощания с последним военным самолетом-заправщиком McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender. В тот день единственная еще находящаяся в строю машина в последний раз поднялась в воздух, чтобы долететь до базы Дэвис-Монтан к знаменитому 309-му хранилищу АМАРГ. На этом завершилась 43-летняя карьера KC-10, принятого на вооружение ВВС США в 1981 году.

Место Extender уже занял новый самолет-заправщик Boeing KC-46 Pegasus. По состоянию на сентябрь 2024 года, с момента начала поставок в 2019 году, ВВС США уже получили 88 КС-46 из 128 заказанных.
