Немецкий художник Хейко Хеллвиг создал серию работ под названием «Кремниевые города». Яркие композиции выполнены из деталей старой электроники, включая материнские платы, процессоры и микросхемы.

Для своих проектов Хеллвиг использовал внутренние компоненты устаревших MacBook, IBM и PlayStation. Материалы он находил на eBay или брал из запасов друзей, хранившихся в подвалах.
