Транскраниальная магнитная стимуляция (ТКМС) предоставляет уникальную возможность по оценке состояния пирамидных путей (ПП) у больных РС. Метод основан на магнитной стимуляции аксонов корковых мотонейронов, что сопровождается непроизвольным сокращением мышц конечностей. Время от подачи стимула и до момента сокращения мышц позволяет оценить скорость проведения по ПП. У больных РС данное время проведения обычно увеличивается, что отражает процессы демиелинизации.

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) provides a unique opportunity to assess the state of the pyramidal pathways (PP) in patients with MS. The method is based on magnetic stimulation of axons of cortical motor neurons, which is accompanied by involuntary contraction of limb muscles. The time from the stimulus to the moment of muscle contraction allows us to estimate the speed of the PP. In patients with MS, this time usually increases, which reflects the processes of demyelination.
