新新聞《新新聞》創刊於1987年3月12日，它是一份探討台灣政治、經濟、社會、文化及國際關係，並且富有批判精神的新聞性周刊。

取名《新新聞》的用意，是希望在新聞素材的選擇上有別於《舊新聞》，因為，《新新聞》創刊時的台灣社會上尚在戒嚴時期，台灣的新聞仍多限制與禁忌，意見市場尤其充斥著國民黨說法，而反對人士掌控的媒體，在極端中也不具備專業水準，遂致新聞無法呈現原貌，整個輿論版圖為偏狹的、零碎的舊新聞所侵占。《新新聞》期望發揮媒體的中介精神，使新聞的真貌還原，讓意見市場不再扭曲。
