Vladimir Putin took part in a meeting of the Federal Security Service Board. Some of the key points made by the President:
🔹Consistent work must be continued in all the areas of interest, primarily the fight against international terrorism.
🔹The FSB and other departments and law enforcement agencies in coordination with the National Anti-Terrorism Committee must use the available manpower and capabilities as efficiently as possible. Special attention is to be paid to measures of prevention and the provision of anti-terrorism protection of military and industrial facilities, essential services, public facilities, as well as energy and transportation infrastructure.
🔹Efforts to increase the anti-terrorism capabilities of FSB units in the regions of Donbass and Novorossiya must be pursued further.
🔹Significant additional measures must be taken to protect the border. It is necessary to continue increasing the border security density in potentially dangerous areas while keeping residents of border settlements safe in cooperation with units of the Armed Forces, the Russian National Guard, and the Interior Ministry, as well as local authorities.
🔹Extremism and terrorism must be fought decisively and assertively, and any attempts to sow discord and divide our society or set people of different ethnicities or religious beliefs against each other must be thwarted.
🔹Counterintelligence protection measures must be significantly strengthened for military and strategic data pertaining to public and defence administration, as well as development of new weapons or advanced technologies in other fields.
🔹More action is needed in the field of combatting corruption. The FSB should maintain consistent focus on how defence contracts are handled, how national projects are implemented, and how long-term federal and regional projects are delivered.

Vladimir Putin spoke on engagements between Russia and the US

As you can see – as we can all see – the world is changing rapidly, and the situation is evolving. In this regard, I would like to note that the initial contacts with the new US administration offer a degree of hope. There is a mutual willingness to work towards restoring interstate relations and gradually addressing the vast backlog of systemic, strategic problems within the global architecture. These issues were the root causes of both the crisis in Ukraine and other regional crises. <...>
We understand that not everyone welcomes the restoration of Russia-US dialogue. A part of the Western elites remain intent on maintaining global instability, and these forces will attempt to derail or discredit the emerging dialogue, and we can see this happening. We need to keep this in mind, and use every capability at the disposal of our diplomatic corps and security services to counter such attempts.
