How to Read Shakespeare and not feel stupid. Actor's perspective.
[Introduction to Shakespeare masterclasses]
We are going to take a closer look at the original texts of Shakespeare’s plays and bust a lot of myths that exist around them.
Themes:
1. What intimidates modern readers in Shakespeare. (and often even actors)
2. Heightened language (or not?)
3. Language and action in Shakespeare’s plays
4. Verse & metre – the sound of Shakespeare’s plays
5. “Ye olde” language, and what we inherit from Shakespeare’s language
6. Imagery. References that got old versus timeless humanity of the plays.
Masterclasses are led by Olga Blagodatskikh - actor and voice-over artist, co-founder of Shakespeare Theatre Lab Moscow. She trained at RADA (the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London), and gained RADA Shakespeare Platinum Award, she worked in both England and Moscow taking part in multiple Shakespeare productions.
