وخُصَّت الشامُ بذلك النور الذي أضاءت له قصور بصرى منها عند ولادته صلى اللّٰـه عليه وسلم؛ لأنها خِيرة اللّٰـه من أرضه كما في حديث صحيح، فهي أفضل الأرض بعد الحرمين، وأول إقليم ظهر فيه مُلكُه صلى اللّٰـه عليه وسلم، وأرض المحشر والمنشر، أي الشام هي الأرض التي تُجمع فيها الموتى ويُساقون إليها.
وتخصيص بصرى من أرض الشام للإشارة إلى أنه يصل إليها بنفسه الكريمة، وقد كان ذلك مرتين ولم يتجاوزها، أو لأنها أول موضع من بلاد الشام دخلها ذلك النور المحمدي، ولذلك كانت أول ما افتتح من بلاد الشام.
