Ng Man-ho, a 27-year-old computer technician, was convicted last month of seven counts of incitement charges after he made use of the 100,000-member Chinese-language channel that he runs and manages to post "seditious messages," which had been shut down since August 2020. As of Thursday, the SUCK Channel had 34,146 subscribers, with only one message dated August 28, 2020. It was an announcement stating that police had removed all posts on the channel because its content βcontravenes the laws of Hong Kong.β The groupβs featured image is of a Pepe frog yelling, often referred to as the βREEEEEEEβ meme. Pepe the Frog was created back in 2005 by Matt Furie and has since become an internet symbol for meme culture and βdegenβ culture. The Channel name and bio must be no more than 255 characters long But a Telegram statement also said: "Any requests related to political censorship or limiting human rights such as the rights to free speech or assembly are not and will not be considered."
