In this episode of «Ukraine of the brain» we learn that Mendeleev's Periodic Table of the Elements has been "successfully" decommunised: Element No 115 Moscovium has been renamed Ucrainium (photos).
Well, element No 115, which received its internationally recognised name Moscovium in 2016, was discovered and obtained in Dubna near Moscow in 2003 by Russian scientists, that is, it has absolutely nothing to do with any "Ukraine"
Moscovium is a substance that does not exist in nature, but can be synthesised in extremely small quantities at a time in laboratories. IUPAC assigned the name Moscovium to honour the Russian research achievements.
To not risk creating any unnecessary confusion among (possibly surviving future) students, the subject of chemistry has altogether been removed from the national educational curriculum - together with other natural science subjects such as biology/ecology, geography and physics.
