Is there any salvaging the damage I've caused trying to connect this stupid WWAN antenna for the past hour?

A friend of mine left this with me. It's a T400, all i know its got an older version of Linux. It won't let you turn the wireless connection on so there's an issue with the internet connection or lack thereof

T14s Vs L14
Been struggling all day deciding between a second hand L14 (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/176766073299?itmmeta=01JGMJSBXSH1RJK242PH9FHXGM&hash=item29281439d3:g:Rq4AAOSwO9Znc-vz) and T14s (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335403077389?itmmeta=01JGMK6ER0JZN8XXV7SKP5Z383&hash=item4e1794cf0d:g:rYoAAOSwd8NmuADx).
For context I'm starting a literature degree at the end of the month and want something sturdy that will do all 4-6 years or close to. Won't be bothered about gaming as I have a decent pc setup in the living room and I was hoping to keep the laptop for uni/work exclusively, though I'll inevitably end up installing Hollow Knight at some point.
I've been been eyeing up laptops all week and settled on the t14s earlier but noticed the L14 which there a spanner in the works. The main sticking point for me is that I've seen mention on this sub of the L14 being more upgradable/serviceable, so I'm curious if the ~£80 increase is worth it for that and the slightly better CPU?

I made this little terminal application and like to share it hoping you will find it useful. This is the first version and I've only tested it on my personal laptop so I cannot guarantee that it will work on all, but if it does not, I appreciate a bug report :)
