It was an important day for my family and for me personally yesterday! My father Boris Romanovich was celebrating his birthday. I can say with confidence that a person’s character is best shown in sport. Without the ability to work hard, be patient in order to achieve positive results and give your maximum, you will fall apart quickly and leave. My father participated in judo across several decades, and his strength was especially clear on the tatami. He became a Leningrad judo champion on several occasions, becoming a Master of Sport after winning the Union Championship. Boris subsequently began coaching, sharing his knowledge and experience across 20 years. He became an honoured Russian coach as a consequence. My father fought hard until the end during every duel on the tatami. I dreamt of becoming a similar person to him, and to possess his strong spirit and determined character. He introduced me to sport, which became an important part of my upbringing and my entire life. I can’t imagine living without sport, and this is down to my dad. I want to thank him for showing me the right path in life and for his important life advice - I’m continuing to look up to my dad. Happy birthday! Continue being strong and determined to achieve your goals, and continue showing your unbreakable character which you displayed in judo. I wish you professional and personal success, health and joy. As a family, we will continue giving you more reasons to smile. Happy birthday, dad!
