Contemporary philosophy of religion has been wrongly dominated by the traditional theism construed as the best model of God. To counter this overemphasis on traditional theism, we will consider some views that have been recently developed as alternative conceptions of God. It is widely held that traditional theism is the most compatible view with monotheistic religions (i.e. Islam, Christianity, Judaism). As we go through the course, we learn how unjustified this assumption could be. And, as we will see, we can find substantial support for these alternative models of God in different religious traditions including monotheistic religions.
